E.Q: How does each character perceive fear?

Obj:Students can evaluate characters based on his/her perspective.

Starter:

Do you believe there is witchcraft afoot in Salem, or do you believe the girls are innocent?

Explain your stance on the question.

Vocabulary:

Arbitrate- to settle an argument between two people or groups after hearing the opinions and ideas of both

He was called upon to arbitrate disputes as though he were an unofficial judge (24).

 When might you need to arbitrate?

Contiguous- used to describe things that touch each other or are immediately next to each other  

...whose farms were contiguous with the Nurse farm or close to it (24).

What are you contiguous with?

Iniquity- 1.  Gross injustice

2.  Something unfair or evil

To it all, Mrs. Putnam - who is now staring at the bewitched child on the bed- soon accused Rebecca's spirit of 'tempting her to iniquity,' a charge that had more truth in it than Mrs. Putnam could know (25).
